I've always viewed my signature as basically a chop; that is, some arbitrary symbol that I can quickly recreate at will that signifies that I am the one attesting. Which means that it's basically one of those wavy horizontal lines, but it's my wavy horizontal line, dammit, and all of the ones I write look just like the one on my driver's license. With that in mind, I find it immensely amusing to think that all those phalluses are their real signatures, used in all official documents, and attesting that they are who they say they are. That, and that if I were waiting in the register line behind someone who insisted on carefully hatching out the entire box, I'd worry about their sanity -- or maybe their ability to write. [shrug]

At the risk of data mining on this stuff you know you ideally wouldn't have...how hard is it to collate these back to the same person and see how consistently they're drawn? A couple look like they might've been the same artiste. And now I'm hoping for a lawsuit over supposedly fraudulent charges where they bring in an expert witness doing <strike>handwriting</strike>dickdrawing analysis "if you compare the swooping arcs of the left testicles..."
